Pastor Jamie Thurman

Pastor Thurman has been a lifelong resident of Bradley County; as a matter of fact, he has been attending our church since shortly after being born in 1977. While he has visited several churches, his heart has always been here, which is just one of the reasons he has a burning desire to see the church grow and show Christ’s love to everyone that enters it. We are always preserving and learning from the church history and now planning for its future.

Everyone knows being a Pastor is a full time job, but his primary job has been serving the community for 20+ years as a Law Enforcement Officer at a local department. He is currently a Lieutenant over the School Resource Officer Unit and Team Leader with SWAT. Pastor Thurman not only feels strongly that everyone should feel welcome in the church, “just like a member of family.” Everyone should also feel safe, “just like home,” so all you have to focus on is worshiping and advancing your walk with Jesus. Pastor Thurman married his beautiful bride in 2002 and now has 4 children (3 little girls and a baby boy) and is excited to see the youth taking part in the service any way they can.

Youth Director Nina Thurman

Nina is a certified teacher that teaches middle school in a local school system. She has a huge heart for kids and with 4 kids of her own, she and her husband Pastor Thurman want the children of the church not only to learn about Christ, but to desire to take part in the worship. By doing this, it will be preparing them to take over in the future.

Sunday School Superintendent Paul Hassel

Paul has a compassionate and giving personality and is always going out of his way to make everyone feel welcome. Paul has demonstrated his service to his country by his service in the Marines and now to his God by serving as Sunday School Superintendent. Paul and his wife Jan have been coming to Evening Light for several years and have taken ownership, always being more than willing to help any way they can. Whether they help lead singing or volunteer in the kitchen, they are a blessing in every opportunity they have.
